IMI Accreditation Paint

The Paint route is intended for technicians whose job role involves the repair of vehicles typically involved in accidents or similar incident circumstances.

There are two levels of job roles within IMI Accreditation Paint, these are:

Technician

The Technician should be working in the accident repair sector of the industry and have at least two years experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required for the preparation of panels (existing) and to give a fault free finish.

Senior Technician

The Senior Technician should be working in the accident repair sector of the industry and have at least three years experience to ensure they are familiar with the skills, knowledge and techniques required to give a fault free finish for both the preparation of panels (existing and new) and the finishing of panels to match exist vehicle paint.

Paint – Technician

This level requires the candidate to complete the following modules:

Surface Preparation - AOM 016 AOM 016
Panel Sealing - AOM 018 AOM 018
Identification of Substrate and Product(s) - AOM 025 AOM 025

This may be achieved through a one day assessment or alternatively achieved over a period of time not more than three years before the expiry of the individuals IMI Accreditation card.

Paint – Senior Technician

This level requires the candidate to complete the following modules:

Panel Preparation (New Panel) - AOM 019 AOM 019
Paint Defects & Rectification Procedure - AOM 023 AOM 023
Blending & Polishing - AOM 024 AOM 024

This may be achieved through a one day assessment or alternatively achieved over a period of time not more than three years before the expiry of the individuals IMI Accreditation card.
