Top Technician 2014 semi-finalists announced

Judges select final 12 who move on to the practical tests


The judging panel for Top Technician 2014 has announced the 12 semi-finalists who will go on to battle for this year’s title. The judging panel, made up of John Hay and Ian Gillgrass of the IMI, and Aftermarket’s own Nicola St Clair, spent a considerable amount of time marking the results of the online test given to the top 24 to find the top 12 who move on to the next round.

In alphabetical order they are:

  • Rob Dawson, Honda Chelmsford
  • Barnaby Donohew, T J Lobb, Truro, Cornwall
  • Tommy Forrest, TF Automotive, Braehead
  • Andrew Gravel, Richard Dean Motor Engineering, Winterton, N Lincs
  • Mike Harding, Harding Auto Services, Knaphill, Surrey
  • Stephen Harrison, MTS Automotive Services, Reading, Berks
  • Peter Melville, Oscillotech Vehicle Services, Tonbridge, Kent
  • George Nice, B&C Motors, Cottenham, Cambs
  • Anthony Pickering, CBF Service Centre, Beccles, Suffolk Nigel Yardley, Yardley’s Vehicle Repair & Test Centre, Sutton in Ashfield, Notts.

The 12 will now take part in a half-day practical assessment, made up of six tasks, at the Delphi Training Centre in Warwick on Friday 4th April. The top six will then move on to the finals at the Honda Institute in Slough on Friday May 16th.

Prizes and awards will be presented at Top Technician Live on Friday 30th May at Mercedes Benz World at Brooklands in Surrey, alongside topical seminars and product demonstrations.
